Author’s Note on How to Read This Book Readers might well tackle this book in random spurts, jumping all around as they find entries of interest, or in the traditional manner, reading from front to back. Either way works. The 101 commentaries are chronological by movie release date and chronological within each movie. The names of each movie form the book’s larger sections, while individual entries move sequentially through each film. For example, let us imagine that you, like me, are primarily interested in reading about Luke Skywalker’s experiences on Dagobah. Turn to the table of contents, scan down to the section marked Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, and find any entries containing the word Dagobah. The title of each entry includes the portion of each film that is under discussion, along with a short description of a specific topic. So look down the table of contents to find something that interests you, read an entry or two, and then put it back on the coffee table. You might even want to check that topic off in the table of contents to remind yourself that you've read it. Of course, if you choose to go from the front of the book to the back, you will find a blossoming of ideas and theories that progresses with our having learned about the Force and the Jedi with each movie’s release date, spanning from 1977 to 2005.
